Harriet Tubman spent her life serving others. She was a strong woman and a hero to many. Throughout her life, Harriet helped the young and the old, the ordinary and the eccentric. Everyong thought she was courageous. Nobody could deny how influential she was during her lifetime.

How did reading about Harriet Tubman's life make your feel? Write a paragraph describing this feeling. In the first sentence, name how her story made you feel. Overcoming Obstacles

James Pittar faces a major obstacle in his life, but he did not let his blindness hold him back from breaking many records in swimming. His courage in the face of his disability is something to be admired. Just like James, we too face obstacles that stand in the way of obtaining what we want.

Think about a time that you had to overcome an obstacle in order to reach a goal. Write a paragraph describing this obstacle and how you overcame it. In the first sentence, you should tell what this obstacle is or was. In the next 2-3 sentences you should tell what steps you took to overcome the obstacle. In the last sentence you tell what the outcome will be or was.
